Being Aware of Your Hands – Focus Training

limin Post in Taichi Practice, Taichi Principles

One way to train our focus when doing Taichi is to have the awareness of where the hands are and what they are doing. There is a difference between being aware and looking at or staring at. The former is done with the mind, the later is done by the eyes.

Our mind is usually, for most of us, scattered. The strength is very weak when it is scattered. By being aware of the hands during Taichi practice, the mind is being kept within a small area around our body and is gathered together more. That is, more focused. Practice this way repeatedly for a few times, one should be able to feel the difference.
